Gupshup to better business communications, launches GIP for the same

Messaging services company, Gupshup has reportedly launched an all-new IP-based messaging channel with an aim to enhance business communication with consumers. Sources claim that the GIP (Gupshup IP) messaging channel would help enable rich and interactive conversational experiences on any device globally, sans the requirement for an app download, thereby pushing the emerging trend of businesses adopting conversational messaging.

As per sources familiar with the knowledge of the matter, GIP is designed to provide advanced features such as the ability to send messages with structured cards, interactive buttons, and rich media (images, audio, video, documents, etc.).

In addition, the channel brings about two-way conversations in tandem with the ability to gather photos and location of users (with their permission of course). It provides APIs to be deployed for customer-support tool integration, automated chatbots, and more. Additionally, it provides secure features such as time-bound disappearing messages and end-to-end encryption.

GIP can be integrated with payment systems and can enable one-click payment experience for content, ecommerce, or gaming subscriptions, while providing extensive ability for businesses to personalize branding on the chat surface.

Beerud Sheth, CEO at Gupshup, has been quoted to say that nowadays, businesses have been adopting conversational messaging on a robust basis to support their customers and drive sales. GIP provides such businesses with a powerful, new tool boasting of advanced features which will expand conversational reach to all mobile users globally, Sheth added.

As a matter of fact, early adopter businesses spanning multiple industries have already been using GIP to a great extent. GIP facilitates new conversational experiences that were earlier considered impossible. Through GIP, marketers will be able to generate advertising campaigns rather personalized and interactive.

Similarly, developers will be able to embed chat bots in A2P text messages. Not to mention, small businesses can now merge their catalogs and campaigns into a seamless experience, while professional game developers will be able to build mini-games leveraging conversations. GIP will also be able to help app developers build mini-programs along with lightweight experiences which reduce the need to resort to expensive app marketing.
