Norwegian Group Katapult Ocean has reportedly announced its investment in U.S.-based cleantech major, ecoSPEARS. ecoSPEARS has a reputation for developing climate-friendly technology solutions for toxin removal from the environment and is well-aware of the polluting nature of toxins that can cause congenital diseases and disorders to people and animals upon accumulation in the environment.

According to Sergie Albino, the CEO and Co-founder of ecoSPEARS, the organization is excited to be part of the Norwegian startup community and the Katapult Ocean Wave 3. He has further stated that it is everyone’s duty to restore the health of global waters for the protection of the environment, people, and wildlife. Collaborating with Katapult Ocean will help the company in scaling its remediation technologies to Europe and beyond, added Albino.

Katapult Ocean interviewed and screened over 1,500 startups during the course of selecting the appropriate partner organization, state sources. Katapult has made 32 investments in thrilling ocean impact enterprises across the world, add reports.

Jonas Skattum Svegaarden, the CEO of Katapult Ocean, has stated that few alternatives exist when it comes to the elimination of emerging and persistent contaminants in oil, soil, and sediment, an issue that has grown with industry at the global level. ecoSPEARS is in a sound position to emerge as the benchmark cleantech major for green remediation, added Svegaarden.

Ian Doromal, the EVP and Co-founder of ecoSPEARS, has opined that dioxins and PCBs represent carcinogenic toxins that affect hundreds of millions of people at the global level, adding that PCBs continue to remain as the most widespread global contaminant, according to the United Nations. The company is aware of its massive undertaking and firmly believes in the capabilities of its team, added Doromal.

ecoSPEARS is known for eliminating toxins by following a cost-effective and eco-friendly approach unlike the unsustainable incineration and landfilling methods. The company’s technologies are being built as modular and scalable systems and are presently on its way to on-site pilot deployment, state sources.
